The Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department (FEMD) has reported that 105 persons were rescued from various building collapse incidents in Abuja in 2024. Unfortunately, four lives were lost in these incidents.
According to the Acting Director General of FEMD, Engr. Abdulrahman Mohammed, the incidents occurred in several locations, including:
- Prince and Princess Estate
- Guzape District
- Garki 2
- Kubwa
- Sabon Lugbe along the Airport Road

- Earth Tremor: Over 2,000 residents traumatized, no fatalities
FEMD’s Efforts to Enhance Disaster Management:
- Deployment of technology to track real images and analytical data
- Integration of lower orbit satellite to enhance risk assessment and monitoring capabilities
- Establishment of effective channels for sharing information and best practices
- Setting up secure data storage solutions
The department aims to improve its response time and efficiency in managing disasters in the Federal Capital Territory.
