2,775 Farmer-Herder Disputes Resolved in Taraba, Adamawa States

A recent report by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) has revealed that 2,775 disputes between farmers and herders were resolved in Taraba and Adamawa states over the past two years.

These disputes, related to resource control, were resolved through the efforts of 12 Community Response Network teams established under the COMITAS II Project.

The project’s impact has been significant, with the opening of blocked cattle routes and provision of other infrastructures benefiting both farming and herding communities. This has strengthened the relationship between the two groups.

To sustain the peace-building efforts achieved during the COMITAS II project, the Taraba and Adamawa States Radio listeners club have created forums in 32 herding and farming communities.

These clubs aim to promote collaboration and peaceful coexistence through peace-building radio talk shows.

The Search for Common Ground (SFCG) has supported these efforts by airing peace-building radio talk shows across six FM stations in Taraba and Adamawa. The organization plans to continue supporting these community listeners’ clubs with resources such as public address systems and radio sets.
