Nollywood actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington has shared her personal struggle with hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe form of morning sickness, during her second pregnancy. She spoke out in response to a report about a UK woman who died by suicide after struggling with the same condition.
Adesua expressed frustration over the lack of awareness surrounding hyperemesis gravidarum, emphasizing that it is not just ordinary morning sickness. She thanked her husband, doctors, family, and friends for their support during her difficult pregnancy journey.
The actress had previously shared glimpses of her challenging pregnancy experience, including months of illness, hospitalization, and an emergency C-section. She and her husband, Banky W, welcomed their second child in 2024.
Hyperemesis gravidarum is a severe form of morning sickness that can cause extreme nausea, vomiting, weight loss, and dehydration. Unlike typical morning sickness, it can require hospitalization and have serious physical and emotional effects on pregnant women.
