The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has successfully rescued four child trafficking victims and arrested six suspects in connection with the crime.
According to the Police:
- The suspects were arrested at different locations following credible intelligence.
- Two of the suspects, Roseline Dennis and Sunday Ekong, were arrested for abducting two children from St. Joseph Catholic School in Ikot Ofon Ikono.
- Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects planned to sell the children in Abia State.
- Another set of suspects was arrested for trafficking two children aged 11 and 12 from Ikot Edibom Village and Mkpatak Village.
Other Arrests:
- Daniel Umoh, also known as Akaka, was arrested for defiling a minor in Abak Itenghe, Abak LGA.
- Louis Akpojotor Mevoweoyo, a pastor, was arrested for defiling his daughter in Ibiono Ibom.
The Police Assure:
- The rescued victims will be reunited with their families.
- The suspects will face prosecution for their crimes.
