Alleged Cultist Arrested for Stealing from Hospital, Blames Hunger and Poverty

A 25-year-old alleged cultist, Borokini Ayodeji, was arrested and paraded by the Ondo State security outfit, Amotekun, for stealing from a government general hospital in Akure. Ayodeji confessed to being a member of the Eiye confraternity and stated that he resorted to stealing due to hunger and lack of support from family members.

Ayodeji, a trained tailor, noted that poverty and lack of support to establish his craft led him to stealing. His case highlights the challenges of poverty and lack of opportunities that can drive individuals to crime.

In addition to Ayodeji’s arrest, Amotekun also paraded a 16-year-old secondary school student who confessed to raping a 24-year-old neighbor at knifepoint. The student expressed remorse for his actions.

The state commander of Amotekun, Adetunji Adeleye, stated that 29 suspects were arrested for various offenses, including rape, burglary, and attempted murder. Adeleye assured residents of the Corps’ commitment to maintaining peace and curbing criminal activities during the festive season.
