Anambra Police Arrest Eight Suspects for Kidnapping, Cultism, and Armed Robbery

 

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested eight suspects for various crimes, including kidnapping, cultism, illegal possession of firearms, and armed robbery.

 

According to the command’s spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, police operatives recovered a long gun, a locally-made Beretta, ammunition, and a suspected stolen vehicle from the suspects.

Two suspects were apprehended in Nnewi as part of an ongoing investigation into the kidnapping of a victim who was released on August 19, 2024, in Ihiala LGA. The suspects confessed to participating in the crime.

 

In a separate operation, five suspects – Okorie Miracle, Joshua Ekwa, Aneke Okorie, Mmesoma Faithful, and Chukwuzekwu Mba – were arrested in Umunze on September 12, 2024. They were found with locally-made short guns, vandalized electricity cables, and tools.

 

Additionally, a 25-year-old man, Chigozie Ejikeme, was arrested on September 13, 2024, along the Nise/Agulu road with a locally-made Beretta pistol and one live 9mm round.

 

All suspects are cooperating with the police and will be charged in court once investigations are concluded.

 

The arrests demonstrate the police’s commitment to combating crime and ensuring public safety in Anambra State.
