Gunmen have abducted an Anglican bishop, Rev. Canon Olowolagba, his wife, and children in Akoko North-East council area of Ondo State. The kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N75 million for their release.
The bishop’s family was traveling from Ipesi through Isua Akoko when they were abducted. The Bishop of Akoko Anglican Diocese, Rt. Rev. Babajide Bada, confirmed that the kidnappers initially demanded N75 million but later reduced it to N10 million and then N15 million.
Efforts to Secure Release
The matter has been reported to the state security outfit, Amotekun, which is working to secure the release of the victims. The state Amotekun commander, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed that Amotekun is working with other security agencies to rescue the victims.
The police spokesperson, Funmi Odunlami, said the matter was not reported to any police station. The abduction has sparked concerns among the community, with calls for prayers and support for the safe release of the bishop and his family.
