A wave of terror has gripped Benue State as a criminal gang, allegedly led by the brothers of notorious militia leader Terwase Akwaza (aka Gana), unleashes a campaign of killings and kidnappings. The gang, which inherited Gana’s arsenal, has claimed the lives of 66 innocent people in recent months, leaving communities in a state of panic.
Desperate for relief, local youths have petitioned the police to take decisive action against the gang, whose members are known to have taken over Gana’s criminal enterprise. The youths claim that the gang’s leaders, who are Gana’s brothers, have been hiring out weapons to other criminal groups, perpetuating a cycle of violence in the region.
In response to the escalating crisis, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered a manhunt for the suspects and the recovery of their arms. The police operation aims to bring the perpetrators to justice and restore peace to the troubled communities.
As the situation continues to unfold, residents of Benue State remain on edge, fearing further bloodshed and destruction. The resurgence of Gana’s gang has raised concerns about the effectiveness of the government’s efforts to combat criminality in the region.
