Bobrisky’s Jail Term Controversy: New Details Emerge

 

New information has surfaced regarding the six-month jail term of Nigerian social media influencer, Idris Okuneye, aka Bobrisky, sparking fresh controversy.

 

Investigations revealed that Bobrisky, sentenced for spraying the naira, was initially held at the Ikoyi Custodial Centre before being moved to the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kirikiri, due to the attention his presence generated.

 

 

Sources disclosed that Bobrisky was placed in a “special cell” typically reserved for well-behaved or high-risk inmates. However, the Nigerian Correctional Service denied allegations of preferential treatment for VIP convicts.

Reaction:

The controversy has prompted calls for investigation and accountability, with activists emphasizing transparency and adherence to the law.

 

“The practice raises serious questions about the integrity of prison officials accused of accepting bribes,” said Debo Adeniran, President of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights.

 

A lawyer and rights activist, Ridwan Abdulkareem, stressed that the law must be allowed to run its course.

 

“If these allegations are true, the EFCC officers involved must be held accountable,” Abdulkareem said.

 

The EFCC has initiated an investigation into the matter, inviting Bobrisky and the social media activist who made the allegations for questioning.
