Boundary Dispute Claims One Life, Destroys Properties in Anambra

 

A renewed boundary dispute between the Ikenga and Isiokwe communities in Anambra State has resulted in one death and destruction of properties.

The clash occurred on Sunday, March 16, 2025, in the Anambra East Local Government Area. The police have invited both communities to a meeting on alternative dispute resolution mechanics to resolve the issue peacefully.

  • Police Intervention: The state Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Ortugu, has interviewed parties involved and is seeking to explore Alternative Dispute Resolutions.
  • Community Agreement: Both communities have agreed to settle their differences and work together to discuss government interventions and partner with stakeholders for lasting peace.
  • Previous Incidents: This is not the first boundary dispute in Anambra State. In September 2024, four men were killed in a similar dispute in the Agu-Isioye community.
