Cholera Outbreak in Ebonyi claims 28 lives

A cholera outbreak in Ebonyi State, Nigeria, killed 28 people, with 14 deaths recorded in Ndibokote community.

Causes:

1. Contaminated water sources
2. Poor hygiene practices
3. Lack of clean drinking water
4. Open defecation

Community Response:

Residents blamed the lack of clean water and poor sanitation for the outbreak.

Government Response:

1. Provided medical aid
2. Planned to establish a health center in the affected community
3. Partnered with WHO and UNICEF to combat the outbreak

Long-term Solutions:

1. Ebonyi State government plans to provide boreholes for clean water
2. Revitalization of the Ebonyi State Rural Water and Sanitation Agency
