Death Toll Rises to Four in Lagos Building Collapse

 

The death toll from the building collapse in Lagos has risen to four, with two more bodies recovered from the rubble on Thursday morning [1]. The incident occurred on Wednesday at around 4 pm on Oriwu Street in the Lekki Phase 1 area of Lagos State. Six people were rescued, and two bodies were initially recovered after the building collapsed.

 

The Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA) responded promptly to the incident, activating its emergency response plans and deploying heavy-duty equipment to the scene. The agency’s Permanent Secretary, Damilola Oke-Osanyitolu, stated that the cause of the collapse is yet to be ascertained and that further investigations will be conducted.

 

Search and rescue operations are still ongoing, with LASEMA coordinating with other stakeholders to ensure an effective response. The injured persons have been administered immediate medical care and transported to Marina General Hospital for further treatment.
