A middle-aged woman, identified as Ifeoma Abisi, has been arrested by a vigilante group in Asaba, Delta State, for breaking into shops.¹ According to the Vigilante Chairman, Francis Okolo, Abisi was apprehended in the early hours of Wednesday and confessed to the crime.
Abisi explained that she was picked up by a young man who promised to pay her ₦6,000 to stay until daybreak, but he later sent her away. To provide for her children, she broke into a shop through the ceiling and stole items, including a standing fan, a cooking gas cylinder, and a complete studio light.
This is not Abisi’s first time engaging in such activities, as she admitted to selling stolen items three times previously to a woman identified as Ada in the Oko area of Asaba. The suspect has been handed over to a DSS officer, who will transfer her to the police for further investigations.
