1. Payment of Salary Arrears: The FCTA has paid six months’ salary arrears owed to doctors and other health workers.
2. Medical Residency Training Funds: The outstanding 2024 Medical Residency Training Funds have been approved and disbursed.
3. Accoutrement Allowance: The owed accoutrement allowance has been paid.
4. Bonding of Medical Residency: Medical residency has been bonded to two years.
5. Recruitment of Health Workers: The FCTA has committed to urgently recruiting doctors and allied health workers to address the critical manpower shortage.
Reasons for the Strike:
The strike was called due to unpaid salary arrears, poor working conditions, and unresolved issues affecting the welfare of doctors and other health workers.
Outcome:
The strike has been called off, and all resident doctors are expected to resume work at their respective posts. The FCT Minister’s intervention has averted a potential indefinite shutdown of hospitals in Abuja.
