Asue Ighodalo, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Edo State, has expressed grave concerns over the ongoing election, warning it could become the worst in Nigeria’s history due to widespread irregularities.
During a press conference on Sunday, Ighodalo cited multiple electoral infractions across polling units, questioning result credibility. Specifically:
– Ikpoba/Okha Ologbo: Zero accredited voters, yet APC received 227 votes and PDP 103.
– Discrepancies in over 20 polling units.
Ighodalo described the situation as a “result-writing scheme” aimed at disenfranchising PDP agents and rigging the election for the APC.
Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, chairing the PDP campaign council, echoed concerns, alleging:
– Collation process interruptions in multiple local government areas.
– PDP agents denied access to collation centers.
Fintiri urged INEC to follow its rules and ensure transparent collation.
Affecting 12 Local Governments:
Esan Central, Esan North East, Esan South East, Esan West, Igueben, Etsako Central, Orhionmwon, Ovia North East, Ovia South West, Owan West, Owan East, and Uhunmwonde.
The PDP threatens further action if INEC fails to address these concerns.
Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki attended the press conference, supporting Ighodalo’s claims.
The election’s credibility hangs in the balance as Nigerians await INEC’s response.
