Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporters staged a protest at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters in Benin City, disputing the ongoing collation of governorship election results.
Preliminary results show the All Progressives Congress (APC) leading:
– APC: 244,549 votes
– PDP: 195,954 votes
– Labour Party (LP): 13,348 votes
APC won 10 local governments; PDP secured six. INEC announced results from 16 of 18 local governments, with the final two expected by 5 pm.
PDP supporters claim results are being manipulated in favor of APC, demanding transparency and accurate reflection of the people’s will. They allege irregularities in the election process.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, PDP campaign council chairman, echoed concerns, stating that PDP agents were denied access to collation centers and that the collation process was violently interrupted in several local government areas.
The PDP has rejected results in 12 local governments:

– Esan West
– Igueben
– Etsako Central
– Orhionmwon
– Ovia North East

Tension mounts as protesters converge on INEC headquarters, demanding:
