EFCC Warns: Yahoo Boys Now Involved in Ritual Killings, Banditry, and Arms Trafficking

EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, has warned that internet fraudsters, known as Yahoo boys, are now involved in more sinister crimes like ritual killings, banditry, and arms trafficking. Olukoyede defended the EFCC’s crackdown on these individuals, citing the country’s significant loss of over $500 million to internet fraud in just one year.

The EFCC has been working tirelessly to combat these crimes, investigating nearly 9,000 cases and prosecuting around 5,000 despite limited manpower. Olukoyede emphasized the importance of integrity in the fight against corruption, revealing that 27 EFCC staff members were sacked over corruption allegations.

The EFCC chairman also urged the media to play a more active role in shaping public perception of the commission’s work, advocating for investigative journalism that highlights both corruption and the agency’s achievements.
