The FBI has launched an investigation into bomb threats made against several nominees of President-elect Donald Trump’s incoming administration.
The threats, which included bomb alerts and swatting incidents, were made against multiple nominees, including Trump’s picks for UN ambassador and head of the Environmental Protection Agency.
According to the FBI, “numerous bomb threats and swatting incidents” have been reported, targeting incoming administration nominees and appointees. The agency is working with law enforcement partners to investigate the threats.
Trump’s transition team spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, confirmed that several appointees and nominees had received “violent, un-American threats” to their lives and the lives of their family members.
The White House has also condemned the threats, with outgoing President Joe Biden being briefed on the situation. A spokesperson for the White House stated that the administration “unequivocally condemns threats of political violence.”
