Federal University Lokoja Shut Down Indefinitely After Fatal Accident Sparks Student Protests

 

Federal University Lokoja has been shut down indefinitely due to ongoing student protests sparked by a tragic accident. On Monday, a trailer collided with the university’s shuttle bus, killing seven students instantly.

 

Despite interventions from the state government and university management, students continued to protest, leading to the closure. The university’s registrar, Dr. Rebecca Aimiohu Okojie, issued a circular stating that students must vacate the campuses by 12 noon on Thursday, February 20, 2025.

 

The incident has caused widespread outrage, and the university management has taken the decision to close the institution to prevent further unrest and loss of life.
