Renowned singer Femi Kuti has called on young Nigerians to abandon plans to emigrate and instead work towards building a better Nigeria.
Speaking at the 2024 Felebration festival, Kuti emphasized that developed countries achieved greatness through struggles and civil wars, not by fleeing.
“Don’t Run, Fight for a Better Nigeria”
Kuti stressed that Nigeria’s youths have a responsibility to improve their own country, citing iconic landmarks like the Fela Shrine, built in Africa, not abroad.
Key Highlights:
- Europe and America’s greatness came from struggles and civil wars
- Nigerian youths must recognize their role in improving their country
- Dual citizenship holders can still contribute to Nigeria’s growth
- Femi Kuti’s son, Made Kuti, exemplifies contributing to Nigeria despite holding dual citizenship
“Japa” (Emigration) Not the Solution
Kuti’s message is clear: instead of seeking greener pastures abroad, young Nigerians should stay and fight for a better Nigeria.
