The Federal Government has approved a significant increase in the monthly allowance of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members from N33,000 to N77,000.
This development follows the enactment of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024, aimed at enhancing corps members’ welfare.
The National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission communicated the approval through a letter dated September 25, 2024.
NYSC Director-General Brigadier General YD Ahmed had advocated for improved welfare during a visit to the Commission.
“The increased allowance aims to boost morale and motivate corps members to contribute effectively to national development,” said Caroline Embu, NYSC Acting Director of Information and Public Relations.
