Fire Guts Radio Nigeria Office in Ikoyi, Lagos

 

 

A fire broke out at Radio Nigeria’s office in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. The fire, which started in the studio section of the building, was brought under control by firefighters from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, with assistance from the Federal Fire Service and the Nigerian Police.

 

According to a statement by Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the agency was alerted at approximately 5:30 PM. Firefighters from the Dolphin, Ebute Elefun, and Oba Onitolo Fire Stations arrived promptly to combat the flames.

 

The fire was eventually confined to the studio section of the U-shaped one-story building where it started. While the cause of the fire is yet unknown, damping down of the fire embers continues.

 

Fortunately, no casualties have been reported, and the situation is currently under control. The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, alongside other emergency responders, is working to determine the cause of the fire and prevent any further incidents.

 

The incident has raised concerns about fire safety and emergency preparedness in the country. The Lagos State Government has been commended for its prompt response to the incident, and an investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
