A mysterious fire broke out on Saturday morning at the Sokoto State Police Command headquarters, ravaging six offices in the administrative block.
The fire was eventually brought under control by firefighters, but not before it caused significant damage to the affected offices.
According to Ahmed Rufai, the state Police Public Relations Officer, the fire incident occurred on Saturday morning and affected the administrative department.
“The fire affected about six offices at the administrative block. The fire service later put out the fire. We couldn’t ascertain the level of destruction, as it falls on the weekend,” Rufai said.
This incident is the second reported fire at a police facility in Nigeria this year, following a similar incident in February 2024 at the Kano State Police Command’s Divisional Police Office in Nasarawa Local Government Area.
