Fire Razes Shops Near Anambra Market, Goods Worth Millions Destroyed

 

 

A fire outbreak occurred near the Relief Market in Okpoko, Anambra State, destroying goods and property worth millions of naira. The fire, which started on Sunday, November 24, 2024, affected several shops along the Obodoukwu Road.

 

Eyewitnesses reported that the fire caused chaos and panic in the area, with traders and residents struggling to salvage their belongings. The cause of the fire is still unknown.

 

The Anambra State Fire Service responded promptly to the incident, deploying two fire trucks and other equipment to contain the fire. The firemen were able to prevent the fire from spreading to other shops and neighboring structures.

 

No lives were lost in the incident, but the economic loss is significant. The incident has highlighted the need for improved fire safety measures in markets and commercial areas.
