A deadly attack occurred on Sunday between Kwana-Barau and Kundu village in Niger State, resulting in the death of a driver, Emeka, and the abduction of five passengers. The victims were travelling from Kebbi State to Asaba in Delta State.
*Rescue Efforts*
The Niger State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, launched a rescue operation. Four of the abducted passengers were rescued unhurt within Kattako forest, Rafi LGA. Efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining passenger.
Second Incident
In a separate incident, 19 passengers travelling from Sokoto to Bayelsa State were rescued after being abducted by suspected kidnappers. The victims were taken into a forest along Tegina-Zungeru Road but were released after intense pressure from security forces.
Police Statement
Niger State Police Command spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed both incidents. “The joint security tactical team responded and combed the forest, rescuing the victims. Efforts are being intensified to rescue the remaining one victim in captivity.”
