Gunmen Kill Two Cops, Driver in Failed Abduction of Delta Lawmaker’s Wife

 

A deadly attempted abduction occurred in Effurun, Delta State, on Monday night, resulting in the deaths of two policemen and a driver. The target was Mrs. Christy Uroye, wife of Delta State House of Assembly member Augustine Uroye.

 

Gunmen opened fire on the SUV conveying Mrs. Uroye, killing the three victims. However, the abductors’ getaway vehicle crashed during their escape, allowing for Mrs. Uroye’s rescue. She is currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.

 

The Delta State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that the operation was “not successful” and that three AK-47 rifles were recovered from the suspects’ vehicle. A family source also confirmed that the abductors’ vehicle was involved in an accident, leading to Mrs. Uroye’s rescue.
