A devastating series of attacks occurred in Plateau State, Nigeria, on Tuesday night, resulting in the deaths of at least eight people. Gunmen targeted the Congo and Zarap communities in Bokkos Local Government Area, leaving a trail of destruction and chaos.
According to eyewitnesses, the attacks began around 7 pm, with the gunmen opening fire on unsuspecting residents. In the Congo community, six people died instantly, including Kenneth Kadish, a member of the Community Peace Service. Two others were killed in the neighboring Zarap community.
Kefas Mallai, Chairman of the Community Peace Service, condemned the attacks and confirmed the casualties. “The attacks were unexpected and caught the residents off guard,” he said. “We have reported the incidents to the security agents, who have commenced investigations.”
The latest attacks add to the growing insecurity in Bokkos LGA, where communities have been repeatedly targeted, leaving residents in a state of fear and uncertainty. The authorities have been urged to take decisive action to address the escalating violence and ensure the safety of the people.
