A senseless killing occurred in the Okokomaiko community in Ojo area of Lagos State over the weekend, leaving a 20-year-old man dead. Four armed men stormed the community, announcing their presence with sporadic gunshots before chasing and killing their target.
According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen stormed a building on Abeokuta Street, where their victim attempted to flee. They caught up with him and shot him multiple times in the head, stomach, and leg, resulting in his death.
The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that it occurred at about 11:10 pm on Friday, September 6, 2024.
The police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said that the corpse was evacuated and deposited at IDH Mortuary, Yaba, Lagos, and that investigation is in progress.
Efforts are being made to trace the fleeing suspects for possible arrest and prosecution, while the case file will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further and discreet investigation.
