A group of hoodlums launched a vicious attack on the palace of the Etsu Lokoja, HRH Emmanuel Akamisoko Dauda-Shelika, Nyamkpa IV, in Lokoja, Kogi State. The attack occurred on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at around 1:00 am.
The monarch narrowly escaped the attack by scaling the fence, but his vehicle and other properties within the palace were burnt.
The attack is believed to be connected to the planned Nupe Cultural Fiesta, which was scheduled to take place on December 21, 2024. The event was meant to celebrate Nupe cultural heritage, but it was aborted due to the attack.
The Etsu Lokoja, HRH Emmanuel Akamisoko Dauda-Shelika, Nyamkpa IV, has appealed to the government and security agencies to investigate the attack and bring the perpetrators to justice.
