Notorious bandit commander Kachalla Sharme, responsible for numerous attacks and kidnappings in Kaduna and neighboring states, has been killed in a clash between rival gangs.
Sharme’s death occurred during a fierce gun duel at Hambakko, in the Rijana and Kaso Forests, which span Kachia and parts of Chikun and Kajuru Local Government Areas.
Two other bandits were killed, and five others suffered life-threatening injuries in the clash.
Sharme’s gang was notorious for the July 5, 2021, abduction of 121 students from Bethel Baptist High School in Kujama.
Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs Samuel Aruwan confirmed the incident, stating that security forces had been tracking Sharme, who had repeatedly evaded capture.
The Kaduna State Government has warned residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious persons seeking treatment for gun wounds to the nearest security forces immediately.
This development marks a significant victory in the fight against banditry in the North-West region.
