Kaduna Church Attack: Bandits Kill Three, Kidnap Scores

A devastating attack on a church service in Kaduna State’s Bakinpah-Maro community has left a trail of death and destruction. On Sunday, bandits stormed the ECWA and Catholic Churches during the 10 a.m. service, killing at least three people and kidnapping many others.

Among those taken was Pastor Bernard Gajera, a respected leader in the community. The bandits, who arrived in large numbers, caught the worshippers off guard, leaving the community reeling in shock.

This latest attack is not an isolated incident. The Maro community has faced repeated threats, prompting residents to raise funds to build a security post for law enforcement agencies. Despite these efforts, the bandits continue to wreak havoc, preventing farmers from accessing their lands and disrupting daily life.

Former Kajuru LGA Chairman Cafra Caino confirmed that 30 people were kidnapped during the attack. The community is now calling for increased security measures to protect lives and property.

In response to the escalating insecurity, Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Christopher Musa has urged troops to intensify their efforts to defend the nation. He emphasized the importance of discipline and loyalty, urging troops to uphold the highest standards.

As the community mourns the loss of life and struggles to come to terms with the latest attack, residents are pleading for decisive government action to address the security challenges plaguing the region. The attack on the church serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing insecurity threatening lives and livelihoods in Kaduna State.
