The Kwara State Government has issued a warning to residents of riverine areas to relocate to safer grounds due to the impending flood threat.
Government’s Concern
Commissioner for Environment, Nafisat Buge, emphasized the government’s concern for public safety and prevention of diseases like cholera.
“We are deeply concerned about the impending flood situation and will take proactive measures to ensure safety of lives and property,” Buge said.
Relocation and Safety Precautions
Residents are advised to:
– Relocate to higher grounds or the Internally Displaced Persons camp
– Avoid river travel during rainy seasons to prevent boat mishaps
– Follow government directives on evacuation
