Lagos Police Rescue Six Children Left Unattended in Building

The Lagos State Police Command has rescued six children, aged between seven and 13 years, who were found alone in a building within an estate in the Ejigbo area of the state.

According to the police spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police received information on Tuesday at about 12 pm that the children were staying alone in the building. The case was subsequently transferred to the Gender Unit in Ikeja.

Initial investigations revealed that the children’s mother was abroad for medical treatment and had left them in the care of a caregiver. However, it is unclear why the caregiver was not present at the time of the rescue.

The children have been taken to a protective shelter through the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, and efforts are underway to contact their mother. The police are also conducting further investigations to gather more details about the case.
