The Lagos State Government has issued a warning to residents of flood-prone areas, including Kara, Mile 12, Agiliti, Ikosi Ketu, and others, to relocate to higher grounds due to the systemic release of water from Oyan Dam.
Precautionary Measure
Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, explained that the warning is a precautionary measure to prevent loss of lives and properties, especially with predicted heavy rainfall.
Oyan Dam Operations
Wahab assured that the Ogun Osun River Basin Authority (OORBDA) operates the Oyan Dam in strict compliance with safety protocols, considering real-time hydrological data, rainfall predictions, and flood outlooks.
