Lagos State Taskforce officials arrested 44 street traders and vendors on Mile-2 Oke bridge for illegal street trading, violating environmental and traffic laws. The chairman, CSP Adetayo Akerele, led the operation, citing persistent complaints from motorists and commuters about obstruction and environmental hazards.
Akerele warned traders to relocate to designated centers or risk arrest and confiscation of wares. He also urged residents to report suspicious activities to sustain peace and serenity in the state.
This operation is part of the agency’s efforts to maintain order and ensure free movement along major highways. The task force has carried out three enforcement exercises on the bridge since January.
