A yet-to-be-identified commercial bus driver was killed yesterday in Makurdi’s North Bank area by unknown assailants. The driver was transporting passengers from North Bank park to the main town when he was attacked.
Eyewitnesses report:
1. Assailants on motorbikes trailed the driver to the North Bank roundabout.
2. They shot him in the head near an old-generation bank on Makurdi-Lafia Road.
3. Passengers fled in shock, shouting and crying.
4. Security forces, including police and soldiers, arrived to cordon off the area.
Suspicions:
1. Cult-related killing due to ongoing supremacy fights in North Bank.
2. Recent attacks and killings by rival cult groups in the area.
Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Catherine Anene, was unreachable for comment.
This incident adds to the growing concerns about safety and security in Makurdi.
