Mob Lynching Claims Life of Alleged Motorcycle Thief in Ogun State

 

A tragic incident unfolded in Atoyo Okeigbo community, Aruba, Sagamu area of Ogun State, as a mob lynching resulted in the death of John Udoh, one of two suspected motorcycle thieves.

 

The Incident

According to the Ogun State Police Command, Udoh and his accomplice, Peter Ubong, allegedly broke into Emeka Ruben’s home around 2:00 a.m., stealing his Lifan rubber motorbike valued at N1.2 million.

 

Community Reaction

Ruben alerted the community, and youths promptly intervened, apprehending Udoh and Ubong. However, the situation escalated, and the suspects were severely beaten, leading to Udoh’s death and Ubong’s critical hospitalization.

 

Confession and Investigation

The duo confessed to being part of a five-man gang responsible for stealing 15 solar streetlights and two other motorcycles. They named their accomplices, Adaka, Stepen, and Jeresy, who escaped with the stolen motorcycle.

 

The police are collaborating to apprehend the remaining suspects and recover the stolen motorcycle.
