Mother’s Agony: Son Murdered Over Fake Bank Alert for Cocaine Purchase

 

A devastating tragedy unfolded in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, when 34-year-old Horsefall Rowland was brutally murdered after attempting to buy cocaine with a fake bank alert.

Rowland’s mother, Gloria George, recounted the horrific events that led to her son’s demise. On September 10, 2024, Rowland informed his mother that he was attending a meeting, but he never returned. Despite reassuring his mother that he was on his way home, Rowland’s captors demanded a ransom, sending threatening voice notes and pictures.

The family paid an initial N30,000, but the kidnappers demanded more, eventually receiving N300,000. Tragically, Rowland’s lifeless body was discovered along Queens/Kings Bakery ABULOMA road, Port Harcourt.

Police Investigation and Arrests

The Rivers State Police Command arrested five suspects in connection with Rowland’s murder:

1. Endurance Thompson (23)
2. Boma Otonye (41)
3. David Ishaku (34)
4. Moses Benjamin (29)
5. Emmanuel (32)

Confession and Motive

Thompson, the prime suspect, confessed that Rowland was beaten to death after attempting to pay for cocaine with a fake bank alert. Rowland allegedly owed Thompson N150,000 and had been using fake transfer alerts to purchase drugs.

The police spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed that the corpse had been deposited in the morgue and that efforts were underway to arrest other suspects involved in Rowland’s murder.
