MTN Nigeria has increased its data prices following the implementation of a 50% price hike approved by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). The revised prices show that MTN’s 1.8GB monthly plan now costs N1,500, up from N1,000 for the previous 1.5GB plan.
Other revised prices include:
- 20GB plan: Now N7,500, up from N5,500
- 15GB weekly plan: Now N6,500, up from N2000
- Text message: Now N6.00, up from N4.00
The price hike is a result of the NCC’s approval of a 50% tariff adjustment for telecom operators, citing rising operational costs and the need to sustain the industry. However, the National Association of Telecommunications Subscribers (NATCOMS) has threatened to challenge the approved tariff hike in court.
