NEW RATES FOR VEHICLE NUMBER PLATES, DRIVER’S LICENSE TAKE EFFECT NOV 1

 

The Joint Tax Board (JTB) has announced an upward review of rates for vehicle number plates and driver’s licenses, effective November 1, 2024.

 

Reason for Review

The JTB cited current economic realities and increased production costs, largely due to imported materials, as reasons for the review.

New Rates

Vehicle Number Plates:

– Standard Private/Commercial: ₦30,000
– Fancy Vehicle: ₦400,000
– Motorcycle: ₦12,000
– Articulated Vehicle: ₦90,000
– Dealer: ₦100,000
– Out of Series: ₦150,000

Driver’s License:

– 3-year Motor Vehicle License: ₦15,000
– 5-year Motor Vehicle License: ₦21,000
– 3-year Motorcycle/Tricycle License: ₦7,000
– 5-year Motorcycle/Tricycle License: ₦11,000

FRSC Reaction

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) supports the new rates, stating they will enhance seamless production and improve service delivery.

The FRSC urges the public to take note of the new rates and plan accordingly.
