The Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade has commenced a shooting exercise at the military range in Jimlari, Taraba State, as part of its Annual Range Classification Phase 2. The exercise aims to enhance troops’ weapon handling and maintenance abilities.
Residents Urged to Remain Calm
Captain Olubodunde Oni, spokesman for the Brigade, assured residents that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure public safety. However, residents are advised to stay away from the 114 Battalion Rear Jimlari Shooting Range area during the exercise.
“The exercise is routine and essential for our troops’ training,” Captain Oni said. “We urge residents to remain calm and go about their daily activities without fear.”

The exercise will run from September 17 to 19, 2024, at the military range in Jimlari, Taraba State. The objective is to enhance troops’ weapon handling and maintenance abilities.
The Nigerian Army has conducted similar exercises in other states, including Gombe and Oyo, to improve officers’ skills and maintain peace. The establishment of new battalions, such as the 114 Battalion in Taraba State, aims to stabilize the region.
The Army reassures residents that all necessary precautions have been taken to ensure their safety during the exercise.
