The Nigerian Army has made significant strides in combating oil theft in the Niger Delta region. Between November 11 and 17, 2024, troops arrested 28 suspected oil thieves and destroyed 46 illegal refineries.
This operation, conducted in conjunction with other security agencies, also resulted in the seizure of 47 boats and the recovery of 95,000 liters of stolen products.
In a similar operation conducted earlier, troops arrested 24 oil thieves, deactivated 29 illegal refining sites, destroyed 14 boats used for stealing crude oil, and recovered over 700,000 liters of stolen products.
The General Officer Commanding, 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, commended the troops for their successes and urged them to continue to sustain the tempo to clear the region of criminal elements.
