The Nigerian Army’s 6 Division has made significant strides in combating oil theft and illegal refining in the Niger Delta region. Between November 18 and 24, 2024, the Army dismantled 34 illegal refining sites, arrested 11 suspects, and recovered over 80,650 liters of stolen crude and refined products.

The operations, which covered Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, and Akwa Ibom states, also led to the seizure of 180 cooking drums, 29 metal container receivers, several vehicles, and motorcycles. The Army’s efforts have been commended by the General Officer Commanding 6 Division, Maj. Gen.
