Soldiers from the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army have made significant progress in the fight against illegal oil bunkering in the Niger Delta region.
According to reports, the troops have recovered 1.2 million litres of stolen crude oil, destroyed 56 illegal refineries, and arrested 17 suspected oil thieves.
The operation, which took place between November 25 and December 1, 2024, also resulted in the destruction of 88 cooking drums and 20 boats used for illegal activities.
The troops also intercepted seven vehicles, discovered six illegal connection points, and destroyed five motorcycles used for economic sabotage.
The General Commanding Officer of the 6 Division, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, commended the troops for their successes and reassured that the ongoing operation would be sustained to secure all critical national infrastructures within the Division’s Area of responsibility.
