The Nigerian military has recorded significant successes in its operations against terrorists, with 135 terrorists neutralized, 185 suspects arrested, and 129 kidnapped hostages rescued in the last week.
According to the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, troops of the Nigerian military conducted well-executed operations across the country, leading to the elimination of the terrorists and the rescue of the hostages.
Buba also reported that several terrorist leaders and commanders have surrendered to troops, including Yellow Jambros, Alhaji Mallam, Ardo Idi (Alhaji Lawal), Lawal Kwalba, Salkado, Yellow Ibrahim, Gana’e, and Babangida.
In addition to the human casualties inflicted on the terrorists, troops also recovered 113 assorted weapons, 2,415 ammunition, and other items, including vehicles, motorcycles, and mobile phones.
The military also discovered and destroyed 93 crude oil cooking ovens, 12 dugout pits, 37 boats, 127 drums, 41 storage tanks, and 82 illegal refining sites in the Niger Delta area.
The Defence Headquarters has assured that troops will continue to sustain their operational tempo to destroy or cause further surrendering by terrorists.
