Nigerian Professor Jailed 6 Months for UTME Impersonation

‘Professor’ Jide Josiah Jisos has been sentenced to six months in prison for impersonating his daughter during the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Jisos was arrested by Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) officials at Brix Academy in Abuja after falsely presenting himself as a representative of a non-governmental organization overseeing the exam.

According to JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, Jisos’ deception was uncovered when he was questioned by the monitoring team leader. During interrogation, he confessed to attempting to assist his daughter in taking the exam.

Chief Magistrate Honourable Justice Folashade Oyekan found Jisos guilty of impersonation and sentenced him to six months in prison, with an option of a N100,000 fine.
