Nigerian Troops Crack Down on Oil Theft

 

In a significant operation, Nigerian troops and security agencies have seized 215,000 liters of stolen oil and destroyed 34 illegal refineries in Delta.

  • 27 suspects arrested for illegal oil activities
  • 19 boats and 8 vehicles destroyed
  • Various arms and ammunition recovered
  •  3 artisanal refineries deactivated in Rivers State
  • 7,000 liters of stolen condensates confiscated in Degema LGA
  •  5 suspects apprehended attempting to vandalize Oando pipeline
  •  16 illegal refining sites discovered in Imo Riverside, Bayelsa

 

Military Response

Lt. Col. Danjuma Jonah, Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, confirmed the operations took place from October 21-27, 2024. Major General Jamal Abdussalam, General Officer Commanding, 6 Division, praised the troops’ efforts.
