Nigeria’s Military Scores Major Victory: 115 Terrorists Neutralized, 289 Arrested, 138 Hostages Rescued in One Week

 

Nigeria’s military has made significant strides in combating insecurity across the country. In the past week, troops neutralized 115 terrorists, arrested 289 suspects, and rescued 138 kidnapped victims.

This achievement demonstrates the military’s robust nationwide campaigns against terrorism and economic sabotage.

 

Key Highlights of the Military’s Operations:

– South-East: Troops eliminated six terrorists, arrested 13 suspects, and rescued one hostage, recovering five AK-47 rifles, eight pump-action guns, and fabricated hand grenades.

– North-East: Operations in Borno and Yobe states led to the neutralization of 61 terrorists, the arrest of 34 suspects, and the rescue of 32 hostages.

– North-West: Troops neutralized 28 terrorists, arrested 77, and rescued 57 hostages, yielding 16 AK-47 rifles, explosives, and over ₦7.2 million.

– North-Central: Security forces rescued 40 hostages, arrested 27 individuals, and seized arms, ammunition, motorcycles, and mobile phones.

– Niger Delta: Operation Delta Safe tackled economic sabotage, destroying 56 illegal refining sites and 78 crude oil cooking ovens, recovering 872,070 liters of stolen crude oil and 67,985 liters of illegally refined diesel.

 

The military’s efforts have also thwarted oil theft worth ₦921.84 million and dismantled extensive illegal refining operations. Military commanders have reaffirmed their commitment to employing innovative strategies to minimize casualties while maintaining pressure on criminal elements.
