NLC Shuts Down Lagos Radio and TV Stations Over Minimum Wage Dispute

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Lagos State chapter has shut down Lagos Television, Eko FM/Radio Lagos, and Lagos Traffic Radio in protest of the non-implementation of the N85,000 minimum wage by the management of the stations.

Reasons for the Shutdown:

– Non-Implementation of Minimum Wage: The management of the stations has failed to implement the N85,000 minimum wage approved by the Lagos State Government.
– Demand for Oracle System: The workers are also demanding to be placed on the Oracle System.
– Disparity in Treatment: The workers are unhappy about the disparity in treatment, as they have not received the minimum wage or benefits since November.

Response from NLC Chairman:

Comrade Funmi Sessi, the state Chairman of NLC, stated that the workers will sustain their struggle until the government listens and takes appropriate action on their demands. He also appealed to the governor to intervene and prevail on the management to do the needful.

Impact of the Shutdown:

The shutdown has affected the normal operations of the radio and TV stations, with workers blocking the entrance and exit to the Agidingbi complex.
