Heavy flooding has destroyed a critical road connecting Adamawa and Taraba states, leaving passengers stranded. The Gombe-Yola highway culvert, designed to channel water, was washed away, rendering the road impassable.
Stranded passengers, including Adamu Dangombe and Muritala Hassan, appealed to the Federal Government for urgent repairs, citing economic and social setbacks.
“The Federal Government should prioritize the completion of the road to reduce Nigeria’s rising food crisis,” Hassan said.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) conducted an assessment, noting:
“The incident has stranded commuters and goods, significantly affecting transportation between the two states.”
NEMA advised local residents to avoid the area until further notice.
Key Impacts:
Disruption to trade and travel
Economic setbacks for local farmers and cattle rearers
Exacerbation of Nigeria’s food crisis
Call to Action:
Local residents urge the Federal Government to prioritize road repairs, alleviate commuter suffering, and prevent further economic losses.
